Hi Everyone! Hope you are all doing great!
So, as promised, here is my favourites of 2017! These are my holy grail products, and throughout the year, I have reached for them the most! One of my favourite things is buying new make up, and it is the best feeling when you first use it, and instantly get that ‘I am going to love this’ feeling! And every single one of these gave me that! Iv have stand out products, and some I couldn’t whittle down to just 1!
So this is going to be super long! But, sometimes you can’t hold back when it comes to makeup! Why would you? I have only included 1 eyeshadow palette, due to the fact I done a totally dedicate blog post on my favourite palettes of the year, so go and check that out!
NYX Born To Glow Illuminating Primer in white, £7 – This gives the most beautiful glow to the skin! I feel as if this is a really good dupe for MAC’s strobe cream in Sliverlite. I use this on the areas of my face that aren’t oily, and my foundation always sits so nice on top! A really good drugstore primer!
Touch in Sol No Poreblem, £15 – I first heard about this product from Jeffree Star! And so many other people were raving about it! I have huge pores, so i’m willing to try anything to fill them in! This totally fills in and blurs all my skin beautifully! I feel like it also helps to keep my oils at bay during the day, and my makeup looks flawless! A little bit also goes a long way! I will continue to use this throughout 2018! And I also think the price is pretty good, considering how long it will last you!
MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NW13, £23.50 – This is been my favourite foundation for years, this was on the of the first MAC products I ever purchased, and have probably gone through countless bottles of this! This works with my oily skin amazing! The coverage is unreal, and other products layer so well on top! I will forever continue to re-purchase!
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter, in Angel Food 110N. £32 – Now, this hasn’t long been released, and instantly sold out on cult beauty! As soon as I could get my hands on it, I ordered it straight away! God this is high coverage, and it looks totally flawless on the skin! It also lasts really well, and helps to keep my skin matte! The only thing I don’t like about this, is the smell! Its a really strong perfume smell, and it tends to linger on the face for a while! But I just get past that, I love this so much. The colour range is also really nice, and I feel like this is the first foundation that has ever properly matched my skin!
Sadly, I am yet to find a drugstore foundation I love, but that is on my list of things to discover this year!
Tarte Shape Tape, in Light Neutral, £22. – Well, if this isn’t the most talked about concealer of the year, what is? Because this stuff is like Photoshop in a tube. The pigments and coverage in this concealer is a total game changer! The way it brightens your skin, and covers is like no other concealer I have ever put on my face! The smallest amount goes such a long way, and creasing? No way Sista!! This will stay put throughout the day, and l have even brought myself a couple of back ups so I will never run out! It looks incredible under the eyes, covers redness and spots, and also carves out your brows really well! LOVE!
Collection Lasting Perfection, in Fair 1, £4.19. – Again, one of the most talked about drugstores concealers ever! This was the first concealer I was ever introduced to, and since then, I have continued to buy it . The coverage is wicked, and once you set it, it will last all day! It isn’t as crease proof as shape tape, but if you’re on a budget this is the best alternative! You will not be disappointed!
Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder, in Translucent, £13.99 – This powder has been the only one I used through the whole of 2017. I brought numerous different ones, but this has been 1st place through and through. It mattifies the skin so nicely, and doesn’t look cakey in anyway! It bakes beautifully, and leaves your under-eyes looking so smooth and bright. I brought this Jan 2017, and I am still using the same pot I started with! You get so much product that will last you months and months and it is just such a good price as well! In the UK you can find this on Amazon.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, in Light to Medium, £42. – This is more on the pricey side of makeup, as its ABH, but the colour of the contour on my pale skin is perfect. I purchased this back when I was in New York, and I haven’t stopped using it since! I am still yet to even hit pan on this, and for a while I used it every single day! Again, I’ve tried a lot of contouring products, but this is still a standout for me. This year I want to try more contour powders, and even creams, drugstore and high end! A firm fave in my collection.
MAC bronzing powder in Matte Bronze, £23. – I feel as if not many people talk about this a lot, I was wondering around the MAC store one day when I came across this, and the colour is just right for my skin tone. It blends effortlessly, and it isn’t so pigmented you have to dip your brush in once. Get a good swirl in there, and you are good to go! I haven’t really experimented with bronzer enough since finding this! Another discovery I want to make this year!
Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose 01, £12. – Again, another product I purchased in the states! (It’s only $9 in the USA, instead of £12 here!) and something I’ve used ever since I got home! It gives a lovely healthy glow to the skin, and looks really natural! The colour is beautiful and totally matte. The formula isn’t super creamy, but you can get a lot of product on your brush! When I go back to the US in July this year, I am definitely going to try more colours from this line!
Nars Blush in Deep Throat, £24. – Those oh so controversial Nars Blusher names hey! These blushes are gorgeous, and Deep Throat is my favourite colour this year! A beautiful pink, with a very slight shimmer through it, to give your skin a beautiful glow! It is super pigmented unlike the Milani one (which is totally different anyway) and one swipe in the pan, and off you go!
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone, £32. – Highlighter is my favourite base make up (obvs!) and this is a wet, totally blinding highlight! The formula is so creamy, and it effortlessly blends into the skin to look almost natural! This is one of the only highlighters I have ever hit pan on! Incredible! And once it hits the light, BOOM! You will light up the room! This will also suit a lot of different skin tones!
Sleek Solstice Palette, £9.99. – A firm favourite within the beauty community this year! I really enjoy the colours in this palette, I mainly stick to the yellowy colour for my cheek bones and bronze colour the inner corner of my eye, as I don’t often use cream, or purples. Regardless this is blinding! Totally blinding! If you like a super wet look, shine so they can ‘see you from space’ highlighter, this is the one for you! It isn’t super creamy, it is a little more on the powdery side, but at such a good price, you couldn’t walk out of a shop without picking this up! Sleek have totally smashed this! Go Sleek!
Soap & Glory Archery 2-1 Pencil & Brush in Love Is Blonde, £8.50. – Iv tried numerous different pencils this year, I love the ABH Brow Wiz, but the price tag is ridiculous! I feel like its got more expensive throughout the year. The first one I ever brought was around £16. I decided to try and find a cheaper alternative, as I seem to go through brow products the quickest as I use them even on days I wear no makeup. I found this pencil, and I feel it gives the exact same effect! The colour is so cool toned with no orange tinge to it! It lasts on my brows without setting them all day, and it is such a good price! Also comes with spoolie on the other end!
Too Faced Shadow In Nudie (from the natural eyes shadow palette), £32. – Now, this was a totally out of the blue discovery for me. I brought this palette to use for my eyes! (obviously, it is an eyeshadow palette) I still do use it for its sole purpose, and is a great ‘no makeup, makeup day’ palette.. BUT the shade ‘Nudie’ is the most perfect brow colour for my blonde brows I have come across! With no warm tones, just a totally cool tone, light brown/taupe colour, it is the best! I use this every single day, I even travel with this, as not only can I use if for eyeshadow, I also have brows! I am desperately trying to find a extremely similar colour for an alternative to this, so once it has run out, I don’t have to re-purchase the whole palette for 1 eyeshadow!
Charlotte Tilbury Palette in The Vintage Vamp, £39. – I had to include just 1 eyeshadow palette! The reason this didn’t make my top 6 is because this is one of the newest palettes in my collection. The gold glitter is totally to DIE for! It is so glittery, and I use this on days when I want a more dramatic eye! I feel like its best over the top of shadows, rather than on a bare lid, as it pops more! The other colours are also gorgeous, and very luxury looking, with very luxury packaging!
Soap & Glory Super Cat Liquid Liner in Carbon Black Extreme, £6. – This.. is the best. Totally budge proof, so user friendly, and JET BLACK. I am rubbish at liner, and every one I try I ruin my makeup! This will never fail me, the formula is the perfect consistency, the felt tip is just flexible enough to get right into the corner, and create the perfect wing every time, and I get quite watery eyes, and this really doesn’t move! I do use a black Kiko shadow to set this (featured in my Kiko haul) just to properly set it into place, but it turns matte, but you have enough time to really work with this product on your eyes. Incredible.
L’Oreal Paradise Extatic in 01 Black, £11.99. – This is a newer discovery for me, my love for expensive mascaras needed to slow down, as this is another product that you can go through really quick. This makes my lashes look like false lashes. The length and volume this gives is unreal. Even on the shortest, flattest lashes, this will make such a difference. The formula isn’t to wet, nor to dry, so you can really layer this up with no time delay at all. Its totally jet black, and will make your lashes stand out. This has been super hyped up by Tati Westbrook, and she inspired me to buy this! I’m so glad I did!
Benefit Roller Lash in Black, £20.50 – This is ‘Roller Lash’ for a reason, Holy smokes it rollssssss your lashes to space! You can achieve incredible length and volume from this mascara, and is 100% my favourite out of all the Benefit mascaras. This doesn’t dry out, and it can last me a couple of months, so I’m not overly bothered about the price tag!
Tom Ford Lip Colour, from the Girls & Boys collection in the shade Ellie, £29. – This is more of a special lipstick to me! This was my first ever Tom Ford product, and when I saw the Boys&Girls collection, and I saw my name, I was so happy! Michael kindly brought me this for Christmas and I just love it. It is such a tiny lipstick, so I will sparingly use it, but I have used it a couple of times, and the mauve undertone really compliment my skin! Almost like it was made for me 😉
Burts Bees Lipstick, in the shade 501 Blush Basin, £9.99. – I got this in the ‘Latest In Beauty’s limited edition ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Box’ (FYI my most favourite film in the whole world) and the whole box was based around roses! This lipstick was in included, and at first I didn’t think much of it, but once I started using it more, I felt like this was the perfect ‘throw on’ lip, like a ‘your lips but better’ shade for me! And as Burts Bees are renowned for their lip balms, you can imagine how amazing this makes your lips feel. Always in the bottom of my handbag as well!
YSL Rouge Pur Couture in the shade 70 (Limited Edition holiday collection), £28. – Last year, I tried to get my hands on a YSL holiday lipstick, simply because the glittery packaging is stunning. I didn’t realise it had been released, walked into John Lewis, and right at the front.. there it was. This is collection is beautiful, and so is the lipstick! So luxe, and it is so creamy and glossy! Sadly, this is no longer available in many places, but I will continue to collect their holiday lipsticks every year. Another special one for me.
And that folks is it for 2017! Sorry for the long winded post, but I could resist babbling on about my favourite products! I cannot wait to discover new make up in 2018, and see what changes in my staple collection!
Lots of love, Ellie x
